Darlings today we are taking a little trip to the winelands - the Stellenbosch winelands to be exact, to discover a multi-faceted venue of note. With a restaurant, guest house, wedding venue, shopping village, kiddie’s play haven and so much more all on site there is absolutely no excuse not to visit Delvera wine farm. Here’s why you should make a day - and a night - of it and mission out to this special spot in the winelands.

This unique wine farm is a little different from the rest of the farms in Stellenbosch in that it doesn’t actually produce any wine of its own. Instead grapes are grown on the farm and used by sister farm and winery Delheim (who make exquisite wine by the way!) Because the farm isn’t a working winery it leaves the rest of the beautiful farm open to an incredible array of things that you might not expect to find smack-bang in the middle of the winelands. There’s so much happening at Delvera it’s impossible to think of where to start when describing this venue. So, for my own sanity and your easy understanding I’ve decided to tackle it in manageable chunks and deal with one ‘category’ at a time. And, of course because I am a foodie at heart I’m going to start off by telling you about the food.

First on of the food front is the fabulous Simonsberg Café. The restaurant boasts beautiful views of the Delvera garden with Table Mountain in the background and offers hungry visitors a delicious array of food. In the winter the fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere and a magical place to have lunch on a rainy day. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch daily and serves favourites like the Simonsberg Breakfast (an impressive fry up with all the trimmings- R65) and the Camembert & Green fig burger (R95). But that’s not all! Delvera’s shopping village offers all sorts of foodie delights that you can take home with you including; Chrisna’s Olives (the best olives in the Cape!) and the Vineyard Collection ( a boutique wine shop offering 400 of the top South African wines).

Delvera is also the perfect family destination offering all sorts of activities for kids and adults to enjoy. SA Bootcamp has a permanent space and obstacle course set up for little ones to enjoy. Here little ones are taught how to scale towering cargo nets, traverse rope swings and leopard crawl through mud filled trenches! A great activity for birthday parties or holiday fun. Dirtopia  Pump Track offers a kids the chance to bring their bikes and play in the dirt for the afternoon. Dirtopia also organises all sorts of mountain biking events and trails in the area and is a must-visit for adrenaline junkies. And, for when the weather is a little grey kids can check out Funky Monkey and delve into the world of arts and crafts to create beautiful, functional objects and learn new skills. The KIDS XING (Kids Crossing) party venue also offers an incredible space for kids’ parties in both summer and winter.

Delvera also offers an absolutely stunning wedding venue and a guest house, Oak Leaf Lodge on the property. The guest house can be rented for the bride and groom and their wedding party on the day of the wedding or can be used as a spot for a lovely family getaway in the winelands.

Say Hi to Delvera on Facebook.
