According to my new favourite hair care brand, evo, “Your hair is like a lover; ignore it and it will run off, shag your best friend and be sewing alfalfa seed sprouts into your new leather couch before you’ve had time to take your house keys back.” I have never read a truer statement and never found a brand with products quite like these! As you know I am always on the lookout for fabulous hair care products and today I am going to introduce you to a range of hair care products that are so fabulous you just might fall off your chair while reading about them (no really, hold on tight!) I am beyond in love with evo hair care and it’s high time that you all found out about our illicit affair so you too can save your hair from a life of obscurity.

For those of you who might not know the brand, evo is an innovative, professional hair and beauty product manufacturer with individuality and integrity up the wazoo. This is a manufacturer that speaks the truth and I love it! The creators of evo wanted to introduce a hair and beauty care range that cares for your hair and skin in the best way possible and that’s it – they’re not promising to bring about world peace, but they will make your life a little more interesting while you care for some of your most important assets. Their products are all sulphate, paraben, DEA, TEA and propylene glycol free (to make your day that little bit safer) and they encourage their customers to think for themselves by only using products that will work for them and the environment. Hence their catchphrase: “Saving ordinary humans from themselves.”

There’s no doubt in my mind evo really is one of the most sensible and fun hair care ranges that have ever existed, and I’m quite sure that they have a product for every single hair concern. Straight, curly, dry, oily, unruly, thin, damaged – you name it they’ve got something for you and your locks. The professional range is available from hair salons only and while they are super serious about saving your hair their minimalist style packaging (which is also 100% recyclable) shows a playful side to the company. Their dry but super hilarious product descriptions are really refreshing and I could probably spend an entire day sitting in front of one of their retail shelves reading each and every one of their bottles, tubes and tubs (to give you an idea of their awesome copywriting the Ritual Salvation Conditioner bottle offers users the sage advice found in the opening paragraph of this blog post).

But they’re not all funny copywriting and cool packaging - the products actually work! From shampoos and conditioners to styling products these babies really do what the packaging says. I got to try three of their products and am now obsessed with them. When it comes to styling the Liquid Rollers Curl Balm is great for those days when I want to let it all hang out and wear my hair curly, as it helps to hold curls together and protect against frizz (all I need is a few squirts of the spray on my hair, a quick scrunch of my curls and I’m good to go!) and the Salty Dog Cocktail Beach Spray is a lifesaver of note on a beach holiday as it gives your hair a beach-based texture and a matte finish so you can look fabulously tousled after a day spent in the water. I’ve never used styling products like these and can honestly say it is going to take a lot to convert me to anything else.

As for washing and conditioning my hair, the Fabuloso Chestnut Coloured Conditioner adds a shine and vibrancy to my brunette locks like I’ve never seen before. The Fabuloso Conditioner comes in a range of colours (including mahogany, chestnut, red, copper, caramel, beige and blonde) and provides an instant hair colour combined with a nourishing treatment to condition, repair and add shine. The product needs to be applied with gloves but in just three minutes your hair has some much needed oomph.

And, now that I know I love their products so much I am also keen to check out their Water Killer Dry Shampoo (that can also be used as a texturising and styling spray) and the Haze Styling Powder (a styling powder to add volume and texture to hair suffering from the flop). You can pick up your very own evo products for an average of about R250/R300 per product depending on what you buy. The entire range is also available at Fugo Salon in Parktown North.
