Darlings, is it just me or have boozy breakfasts evolved into something of a religion for much of Cape Town? (You’ve got to love our relaxed and leisurely lifestyles!) Anyway, I’m not complaining … I can’t think of anything better than a full English breakfast with a mimosa on the side! If you’re looking for a luxurious place to drink up your breakfast, try one of these spots for an engaging atmosphere, excellent food options and fine champagne!

1. Sotano By Caveau

Streamlined and elegant, this Mediterranean-inspired restaurant is a seaside spot primed for starting the weekend on a fresh and early note. Sit outside at one of the trendy long wooden tables or outside amidst the gorgeous ocean view and peruse their tasty breakfast options while you sip on champers. Classics include the English breakfast with meaty trimmings, flatbread with spinach, bacon, Parmesan cheese and sunny-side up eggs, as well as the roasted wild mushrooms with parsley and butter.

Where: 121 Beach Road, Mouille Point, Cape Town.

2. Savour Restaurant

The spectacular bottomless (yes, bottomless!) bubbly buffet at this sophisticated spot inside the 15 on Orange Hotel takes its cue from the lavish breakfasts held at famed New York City establishments like The Plaza Hotel and Waldorf Astoria. Running on the first Sunday of each month, the affair features fine-quality champagne as well as more than 20 gourmet breakfast and brunch dishes. If you want to sip on bubbles, tuck into divine dishes and catch up with the girls on a Sunday morning, this sure is the spot to visit!

Where: 15 On Orange Hotel, Corner Grey’s Pass and Orange Street, Cape Town CBD.

3. The Foodbarn

This stunning establishment in rural Noordhoek serves up top-notch coffee, breakfasts, pastries and tarts that pair ever-so-well with a bottle of bubbly! The rustic and homely open-plan styling echoes the wholesome, simply delicious food that The Foodbarn is so well-known for. The ambiance is superbly laidback and intimate, which makes this outer-city spot a great place to enjoy with your loved one of a group of friends. The best part is this gem is just over the mountain and only a short drive away!

Where: Noordhoek Farm Village, Village Lane, Noordhoek, Cape Town.

4. La Belle Bistro & Bakery

Basking in the shade of hundred-year-old oaks, La Belle in Constantia invites you over to join in on a stylish foodie fair! You’re totally spoilt for choice at this spot with so many divine breakfast options to choose from, including eggs benedict with ham or salmon, ricotta hotcakes and a fresh fruit platter. For the champagne enthusiasts like myself, you’ll be delighted to know that they serve only the best bottles of bubbles (yes, I’m talking Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot) – perfect for sipping while taking in views of the manicured garden and vibrant mountain!

Where: Alphen Boutique Hotel, Alphen Drive, Constantia, Cape Town.

5. Azure Restaurant

Treat yourself to a luxurious boozy breakfast at this truly glamorous spot. People at Azure Restaurant, situated at The 12 Apostles Hotel & Spa, are here to spend money, look fab and have a great time doing both! The beautiful terrace, which overlooks the ocean, is the perfect spot to enjoy a romantic breakfast and to toast to your fabulous life with a bellini or two. The view is nothing short of magical, and will allow you to experience the magic of the Atlantic Seaboard like no other!

Where: Victoria Road, Camps Bay, Cape Town.

6. Ellerman House

A sedate haven situated on the oceanfront, Ellerman House is simply the essence of luxury and class! Sit back and relax while you sip on something sparkling and enjoy homemade fare while overlooking the wine-like sea. The ambiance is cosy and comfortable, which makes for a great long, lazy brekkie. What’s even better is that you can head downstairs after your meal for a rejuvenating massage at their gorgeous spa! Opt for the Swedish or deep tissue for a real post-breakfast treat!

Where: 180 Kloof Road, Bantry Bay, Cape Town.
